Service

Developmental
Editing

Developmental editing is the most comprehensive and detailed service I offer. It is a one-off, full-manuscript edit designed to examine your work at every level, from overarching narrative structure down to how those choices are functioning on the page.

I undertake a close, critical reading of your work with attention to narrative structure, plot development, character arcs, tension, pacing, and overall storytelling craft. Because I am working through the entire manuscript, I'm able to assess not just individual elements, but how they interact across the full shape of the story.

Alongside big-picture analysis, I provide extensive in-manuscript commenting, offering insight directly on the page so I can highlight where things are working, where they aren't, and how improvements can be made.

Cost $40 / 1,000 words AUD

Payment plans available spread across 4, 6, or 8 fortnightly instalments.

For stories where word count isn't a good representation of the amount of work required (e.g. branching dialogue in games, or complex plotting systems for unfiction stories) we can work with an equivalent hourly rate. Please note a sample edit will be required.
